Baccarat, one of
the high stakes games preferred by celebrities such as James
Bond, generated almost 20 percent of total revenue in casinos of
Las Vegas Strip in the last November, as announced recently by
the Gaming Control Board.
The total money raised among all the casinos amounted to $ 92.7
million during that month. The total increase in earnings from
this game saw a 136 percent increase over the same month of
2008.
During the month of November, baccarat players bet a whopping $
690.8 million in the complex in Las Vegas. This means nearly 14
percent of all money that entered these casinos. This is a 84
percent rise over 2008.
Baccarat can be a very expensive entertainment for most of the
casinos, because they must invest much money to attract players
with large amounts of money. Such costs typically include
flights, accommodation and free meals for the family of the
gambler. Since profit margins for the house are usually quite
low, well, there are risks to the casino to finish with huge
losses of money in no time if a player has too much luck
(especially if it comes to betting $ 100,000 hand). |
